I just replaced a vacuum hose that was causing a leak and the check engine light to turn on, I have driven the car for almost 300 miles and the Catalyst and the Evap monitors are not ready yet. So I replaced the MAF on the 01 ML430, and have to get ready for the Smog test here in Ca. The vehicle returns for another inspection and again has too many "not ready" monitors, exceeding the acceptable limit. Not sure what the procedure is for EVAP. monitors ready for the emission test! I tried the Nissan recommended driving pattern several times, made almost 500 miles - still no luck. for over 2 months the o2 sensor keeps reading as not ready. Leave ignition OFF for 30 seconds, then restart the engine. Toyota/Lexus use a series of diferent drive traces for each system monitor. I changed the cat, the Canister Vent Solenoid, Canister Purge Solenoid, Charcoal Canister, Fuel cap & MAP sensor. on 31 January 2013 11:55 PM. Still only getting the evap and EGR to read "ready". Sorry Tom, i didn't see your question. EVAP also runs only when the gas tank is between 3/4 and 1/4; so if you don't let tank drop below 3/4 you can "defer" the EVAP test from running. To be honest, I was completely surprised that the remaining monitors 'Green'd' up as quickly as they did. - replaced oxygen sensor behind cat on passenger side - New Gas Cap - New Plug wires I want to be able to pass inspection but with the Catalyst not ready and Evap System not ready, it would not pass inspection. After following the drive cycle in the Owners Manual 2x, I got the catalyst monitor to reset. Now, for inspection maintenance, both Catalyst monitor and Oxygen sensor monitor show NOT READY status.
